You don't need to prepare for a listening session

If you are thinking about booking a session, you might be wondering what you should talk about. You might worry you will run out of things to say. Or you might have so much on your mind that you do not know where to begin.
You can set both worries down. There is nothing to prepare, and there is no right way to start.
How a session begins
Your listener says hello and asks one simple question: would you like them to mostly listen, or would you prefer a few gentle questions along the way? You can answer either way, or say you are not sure yet. You can also change your mind halfway through.
After that, the hour is yours. If you begin with something small, like how your day went, that is a perfectly good place to start. Conversations tend to find their own way.
If you arrive with nothing in mind
That is welcome too. Some people book a session simply because they want company for an hour. Talking about a book, a walk, a meal you cooked, or the weather where you live is a real conversation, and your listener will meet it as one.
If you arrive with a lot
You do not need to tell it in order. You can jump around, go back, leave things unfinished, or say you would rather not go into a part of it. Your listener will not push for details you have not offered.
If writing helps you, you are welcome to jot down a line or two before the call. It is never required, and nobody will ask to see it.
A note on what we are
Hear2Heart is a listening service. Our listeners do not diagnose, treat, or give clinical advice. If you are looking for therapy, a qualified mental health professional is the right person to talk to.
If you would like an hour to talk at your own pace, you can send us a request whenever you are ready. Nothing is booked or charged until we confirm a time with you.
