Small quiet moments in a busy week

When a week is full, advice about self-care can sound like one more job. Wake up earlier. Start a new routine. Track your habits. If you are already stretched, none of that feels restful.

Here are a few smaller things instead. None of them takes more than a few minutes, and none of them needs to be done well.

Notice one thing near a window

The light on a wall, a plant leaning toward the glass, the color of the sky at the end of the day. You do not have to do anything with it. Just notice it for as long as you like.

Let one drink be slow

Choose one cup of tea or coffee in the day and drink it sitting down, without a screen. If your mind runs through the to-do list, that is fine. Let it run while your hands stay warm.

Say how you are, honestly, to someone

Most of us answer "How are you?" with "Fine" on autopilot. Once this week, try giving a truer answer to someone you trust, even a short one: "Tired, actually" or "A bit all over the place." It can be a small relief to say it.

If there is nobody around you to say it to right now, or you would rather say it to someone outside your everyday life, a listening session is one place to do that. An hour, at your own pace, with no pressure to receive advice.
